Hatz GmbH & Co. KG
Engine manufacturerTurnaround unleashes new power
Working closely with the Hatz management, FTI-Andersch developed and implemented a comprehensive concept comprising structural, financial and personnel-specific measures, through which it succeeded in putting the company, a long-established engine manufacturer, back on course for success.
The company
The Hatz group is a medium-sized company primarily focused on the manufacture of industrial diesel engines. Its engines are used in a range of machines, including agricultural and construction machinery, commercial vehicles and ships. Hatz also develops and produces special power packs and other components. It has a worldwide service network and currently employs around 900 people. In 2017, the company generated revenue of approximately € 170 million.
Situation at the outset
An ongoing stagnation within key markets and extraordinary expenses negatively affected the group's financial position and earnings situation. Action needed to be taken quickly.
Solution
Together with FTI-Andersch, the Hatz management developed a comprehensive set of measures, which included restructuring the company’s transfer prices and optimizing inefficient processes and structures within the Production, Sales and Controlling departments. In addition, key positions were replaced.
Achievements
The measures led to ongoing, sustainable improvements in the company’s operating performance. Moreover, the business plan validated by FTI-Andersch as well as a shareholder contribution served to boost the financing banks’ confidence in the company. As a result, the existing financing measures could be prolonged, and Hatz’s story as a successful business enterprise, which began in 1880, could be continued.
